Meet the Founder

Why I Started Stemmewear
When I was in high school, a teacher told me I did poorly on a math test because I was a girl. That moment shattered my confidence. It wasn’t until I changed schools and found supportive teachers that I regained it—today, I use math every day in my career.
Years later, as a mom, I saw the same outdated messages still being marketed to young girls. Shopping for my daughter, I found boys' clothes celebrating rockets, robots, and scientists, while girls’ clothes were all about princesses and "too pretty for math" slogans. Science is full of wonder—why not celebrate that? That’s when I knew I had to create Stemmewear.
Designed to Inspire
Stemmewear is about representation. Every design is inspired by groundbreaking women in STEM:
The Roberta Bondar Collection honors Canada’s first female astronaut.
The Amelia Earhart Collection celebrates the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic.
And just as importantly, all designs are created by women artists—including an incredible illustrator from Ukraine. By wearing Stemmewear, girls see that STEM is for them.

Beyond Clothing
I want Stemmewear to be more than just clothing. In five years, I hope it’s a go-to resource for parents raising curious, science-loving kids. I want to create STEM experiment guides, book recommendations about inspiring women scientists, and partnerships with brands that share our mission.
I also hope to see Stemmewear in retail stores and science centre gift shops—because representation matters, and every girl should see STEM as something meant for her.
